youth Internship programs

The ASC offers paid internships for students in the summer and during the school year. These opportunities allow students to build professional skills, collaborate with mentors and peers, and contribute to STEM learning in their community.

Represent Your Community!

Join the Aspen Science Center this school year as a PAID STEM Leader! This paid internship offers 10th-12th grade students in the greater Roaring Fork Valley, from Aspen to Parachute, an opportunity to gain valuable experience with a local STEM-oriented non-profit. As a Community STEM Leader you will work in small, local teams to serve as educational leaders in their community. All community teams will work with ASC staff and other community teams to design and implement community focused STEM programs and services. Additionally, STEM Leaders will explore their own STEM career interests, as ASC will help interns identify a professional mentor to gain real-world experience in their STEM field of interest.

Compensation
ASC Community STEM leaders are classified as part-time, hourly employees of the ASC and will be paid $17/hour. Hours will vary each week depending on programming and availability but will likely range from 3-5 hours per week and a total of 17 hours per month.
Mileage Reimbursement
Mileage will be reimbursed at the rate of $0.60/mile in cases when a personal vehicle is used for travel to/from program sites. Mileage is not reimbursed for travel to and from the ASC Office for training and non-program delivery. If using public transportation, bus passes can be provided.
