Hispanic individuals are historically underrepresented in STEM. Aspen Science Center aims to enhance and strengthen its bilingual and Spanish language STEM Education program offerings to significantly increase Hispanic individual and family participation in STEM learning throughout the greater Roaring Fork Valley to help close this disparity. In 2024, ASC committed to making its programs and services more accessible and inclusive for Spanish-speaking participants. These initiatives included:
Developing and piloting new Spanish-language and bilingual programs,
Adapting many of our existing programs to be more culturally-relevant and bilingually accessible,
Establishing new partnerships with other nonprofits and schools serving Hispanic communities to improve access to STEM learning for individuals and families who may not have previously engaged with ASC programming,
Training ASC’s Educators in culturally-relevant teaching practices.
