After school programs are essential for providing students with enriching, hands on learning opportunities that extend beyond the school day. Aspen Science Center’s supplemental STEM education programs help children develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills that are key to future success. By partnering with after-school organizations, we aim to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
Aspen Science Center and Access After School are proud to bring STEM programs to three RE-2 Elementary Schools as part of the XLR8 program. Since 2024, ASC and AAS have partnered to bring after-school STEM programs to elementary school students at Wamsley, Graham Mesa, and Elk Creek Elementary Schools each semester. ASC has also facilitated STEM Clubs at Rifle Middle School and Riverview School with the Second Shift program.
The Aspen Science Center, Aspen Elementary School, and Aspen Education Foundation have partnered to offer a preparatory after-school robotics program for 3rd and 4th graders. This 8-week program introduces students to the fundamentals of coding, robotics engineering, and design. In the 25/26 school year, ASC is providing four 8-week sessions.
The Aspen Science Center and Aspen Youth Center have a longstanding partnership to bring free STEM activities to youth center members. Drop in every Thursday at 4pm to explore exciting STEM projects.
