The Aspen Science Center (ASC) is a science education nonprofit based in Carbondale with a mission of advancing public understanding of science through lifelong discovery, exploration, and education. ASC offers a wide variety of year-round, hands-on, engaging programs for people of all ages from Aspen to Parachute The ASC seeks a motivated and self-directed part-time Intern Coordinator to develop and manage its Community STEM Leaders Internship (CSLI) Program. The CSLI Program is a unique internship designed to empower leadership-oriented youth from Aspen to Parachute who are passionate about STEM to be leaders of STEM education and engagement in their communities. The ASC Intern Coordinator (IC) will lead this program by recruiting, hiring, training, managing, and mentoring 16 high-school age youth from Aspen to Parachute throughout the 2025-2026 school year.. The Intern Coordinator will work closely with the ASC Education Manager to build and manage the program, but will also have a lot of autonomy for creativity in the execution of the program. This position is best suited for someone who is competent at managing other people and multiple tasks, and who can work in a self-directed and collaborative environment. Additional opportunities may exist for the Intern Coordinator to help with other ASC operations, such as delivering/teaching ASC programs. The CSLI Program and Intern Coordinator Positions are generously funded by a 12-month Youth Impact Grant awarded by the Jonathan D + Mark C. Lewis Foundation in partnership with the Aspen Community Foundation, with opportunities to apply for additional grant funding cycles.
