FREE! You're Invited to the Intergalactically renowned "Physics is for Kids" Family BBQs! This unique Wednesday night family Barbeque features a FREE outdoor picnic for families from 5:00-6:30 including a fascinating short talk by a noted physicist aimed at kids and their parents. Learn about dark matter and quarks while eating your hamburger and chips! The BBQ is at The Aspen Center for Physics, 700 W. Gillespie Street, Aspen, CO 81611.
At the Aspen Science Center's Physics-is-for-Kids BBQs and Lectures co-hosted with the Aspen Center for Physics, kids of all ages are interested in:
really big questions -- cosmic questions;
really tiny questions -- quantum physics questions;
and everything in between.
For example, the Large Hadron Collider went online! What does this mean? It means it's time to head to the Intergalactically-famous Physics-Is-for-Kids BBQs & Lectures to discover what secrets of the (subatomic) universe could be unlocked by this happening!
Bring your kids and your appetites to our outdoor BBQs on the campus of the Aspen Center for Physics, rain or shine. We feature burgers, hotdogs, ice cream, volleyball, geodesic domes, science demonstrations, and pyrotechnics followed by a fascinating talk by an eminent scientist from the Physics Center aimed at 10 year olds.
We cover everything from antimatter to galaxy formation to the size of the Universe and everything in it.....so come every Wednesday from mid-June to mid-August and enjoy food for the body and the mind! Where else can you discuss quantum tunneling with a physicist over a cheeseburger?
Our BBQs are the perfect combination of fun, food, eminent scientists, and engaged kids--we fed, enlightened and illuminated community members last summer. These events take place on Wednesday afternoons during the summer on the campus of the Aspen Center for Physics; scientists participating in the programs of the Physics Center engage kids in lively discussions of science. (We consider attracting over 200 kids and parents to learn about string theory, given all of the competition from sports, music, Ideas Festival, jazz, etc., to be a major accomplishment!)
